High School
Our high school program, with an enrollment of eighty-seven students in the 9th-12th grade, couples a caring, friendly environment with an excellent academic curriculum.
- Helping our students develop a Godly character, as well as understanding God’s character, is a mainstay of the Grace Christian School education. This is accomplished, in part, through in-depth study of the Old and New Testament throughout the elementary, middle, and high school years.
- Students routinely score in the 80th-90th percentile on their Stanford Achievement Tests.
- Over the past 9 years, 87% of our graduates have matriculated to the college level. For a full listing of the colleges and universities that Grace graduates have attended and/or graduated from click this link.
- Students may earn either a General Diploma or an Advanced Studies Diploma.
- In addition to the regular high school core courses, Grace offers a larger number of Honors, Advanced , Advanced Placement, and Dual-Enrollment classes. Honors courses include English 9, English 10, biology, chemistry, pre-calculus, calculus, World Geography, World History, U.S. History, U.S. Government, physics, Spanish III, and World Views & Philosophy. Advanced courses include advanced biology. Advanced Placement courses include English 11 and English 12. Dual Enrollment courses include U.S. History and U.S. Government.
- Students also participate in a weekly writing lab intended to refine writing competency.
- Our technology program integrates computer literacy training throughout the curriculum and is run through a partnership with the University of Richmond and Boston University. Training includes word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, multimedia, and database.
- Students have a variety of electives from which to choose including student senate and leadership, ministries, auto mechanics, publications, economics and personal finance, debate, and Destination ImagiNation. Fine art opportunities such as drama, chorus, art, advanced art, and music ministry are offered, as well as private lessons for voice, guitar, piano, and violin, wind, brass, cello and bass instruments.
- On-line opportunities for additional classes such as Latin, creative writing, statistics, SAT preparation, and art history are available (extra fee required).
- 11th and 12th grade students have the opportunity to participate in our mentorship program which is designed to give exposure to and experience in various career-related fields. Students are mentored in their field of interest by individuals in local businesses or organizations on a weekly basis throughout the school year.
- A hallmark of our Christian education is the privilege for each student’s involvement in a vibrant weekly chapel service. Chapels include skits, sharing testimonies, music, student-led worship, and gifted local and international speakers.
- In addition to physical education classes, students have the opportunity to participate in the junior varsity and varsity sports program.
