Pre-Kindergarten
Our Pre-Kindergarten program provides children with the opportunity to form a solid foundation academically, as well as acquire fine and gross motor skills.
- The program is designed for children 4 to 5 years of age.
- The average class size is 18 students with both a teacher and an aide.
- Old and New Testament stories help students apply Bible truths in their daily lives.
- Character, social, and emotional development is stressed.
- Emphasis in pre-writing, pre-reading, and math skills help prepare students for Kindergarten.
- Classes meet 5 days each week from 8:10 to 11:45 a.m.
Elementary School
Our elementary program provides students with a caring and friendly environment, emphasizing character-building and an academically solid program with a Christian distinctive.
- Current enrollment is 182 children in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade.
- Our Kindergarten program is half-day and meets daily from 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
- 1st grade through 6th grade meets from 8:10 to 3:10 p.m.
- All classes are taught from a Christian perspective.
- Helping our students develop a Godly character, as well as understanding God’s character, is a mainstay of the Grace Christian School education. This is accomplished, in part, through in-depth study of the Old and New Testament throughout the elementary, middle, and high school years.
- Average Stanford Achievement Test scores for 1st through 6th grades are in the 80th-90th percentiles, well above the national average.
- Our technology program, in conjunction with the University of Richmond and Boston University, provides practical computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, multimedia, and databases. These skills are then incorporated into other classes.
- Weekly chapels reinforce Bible lessons and feature praise and worship music, guest speakers, skits, scripture memory, and prayer time.
- Students explore fine arts through music, drama, and art. Private lessons are offerred for voice, guitar, piano and violin, as well as wind, brass, cello and bass.
- Our library program provides wholesome literature for the students, and training in library and research skills.
- In addition to physical education classes, daily recess time, and field trips, children have the opportunity to participate in our elementary sports program.
