Elementary School Fine Arts
Our Elementary School fine arts program includes music classes, art, drama, and special programs conducted throughout the year.
Music Class: Students are introduced to music appreciation and the basics of reading music. In addition, they learn to play recorders, Orff instruments, and tone chimes. All students in the 5th and 6th grade participate in the elementary musical, and interested 2nd -6th grade students can participate in an elementary chorus which performs for school and community events.
Private Lessons: Students may take private voice, guitar, piano and violin lessons during the school day, as well as wind, brass, cello and bass.
Special Programs: In the fall, 4th-6th graders present a musical, while in the spring Pre-K-3rd graders participate in our Grandparents Day celebration. All elementary students participate in special performances in chapel programs and at nursing homes.
Art: Art is explored using various mediums, including watercolors, oil pastels, and paper mache. Students are instructed in basic drawing and painting skills. They also are introduced to art history and art appreciation.
Art’s Night: This is an opportunity to showcase guitar and piano students and various art work created by the students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Summer Fine Arts Camp: This opportunity is for children in grades 3-8, offering classes in music, art, and drama. Classes range from drawing and mural painting to choral singing, instrumentals and movement, to the basic of drama, voice technique, improv, and live performances.
