Merry Christmas!

December 12, 2017
By John Morrison

Many of us so look  forward to this Advent season as a special time of celebrating our Lord’s incarnation as a tiny, helpless babe, yet He who was and is Emmanuel,  Eternal God with us … with us in the most deeply personal manner!  This babe,  who experienced the full reality of what it means to be human, grew up to carry that same humanity, our sinful flesh, to the cross where He suffered in our stead.  Only as God the Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to a virgin, could He accomplish this great redemption for humanity!  Paul writes, “... great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, was vindicated in the Spirit, beheld by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory” (1 Timothy 3:16).  How can we ever even begin to express gratitude for the greatness of His love toward us and the great salvation He has accomplished on our behalf at such great cost to Himself?

While we remain so very limited in all of our human  imperfections, may our gratitude for His great love become more and more reflected through our lives as we, in turn, seek to live out that same gratitude by walking in His love for all men and women!  And may God help us,  through His grace, to  pass along this precious heritage to our children and grandchildren!

Merry Christmas to all!  May God continue to open our eyes to this great,  good news of the Incarnation!  And may He grant His special joy and protection upon our GCS family and friends over the holiday!
