Elementary and Middle School Choruses Perform at GCS Auction

I view fine arts as an important part of our larger educational program, and I am so proud of the hard work of so many of our students and staff in developing and using their talents for the praise of God’s glory.

This past week, our three GCS choral groups attended the Association of Christian Schools (ACSI) choral festival in Bridgewater, Virginia.  Two of these groups, the elementary and high school choruses, received superior ratings, and the middle school chorus received an excellent valuation, missing the  superior standard by only one point. The elementary school 5th and 6th grade ensemble also received a superior rating and several soloists and duets received superior and excellent marks. Congratulations to these hard working students and their directors and accompanists, Marie Masincup, Lynn Vogan, Karen Palumbo and Orville Bame for their outstanding accomplishments. Mr. Bame also served as accompanist for the mass choir which closed the concert at the end of the day. Please make sure to come and enjoy their annual spring concert May 15, 7 PM, at Main Street Methodist in Waynesboro. You will be glad you did!

And you must make sure that you attend the GCS drama team’s production of The Sound of Music this weekend at the middle school auditorium.  Friday’s performance will begin at 7 PM, with a matinee on Saturday at 2 PM and the final performance Saturday evening at 7 PM.

This is a major production, with our students and their producer/director, Mrs. Becky Boyette, along with a number of volunteers, having worked quite hard in putting together a program that will bless all who are able to attend.  I am so proud of these students, staff, and volunteers, and we are quite blessed with how they are using their talents in honoring Christ.

You may purchase tickets by calling either school office.  In recent years, two of our three shows have sold out, so I highly recommend that you get your ticket in advance.  Don’t miss out on this wonderful show!

In my next blog, I plan to feature some of the creative works produced by our art students as displayed at our recent Boots and Bandana Auction.
