GCS Student Art Display at Recent Boots and Bandana Auction

In my recent blog, I featured news of our GCS music program.  In this follow-up, I want to commend our creative students and art staff their outstanding accomplishments.

This year, we tried something new -- displaying much of our student artwork at the recent auction rather than in our traditional spring “arts night.”  More folks were able to view our students’ work at the auction, and we received much positive feedback.

One of my favorite pieces was crafted by our high school advanced art class, taught by Lisa Morrison (see below picture).  This piece was actually sold at our auction for over $600! Congrats, Peyton Bolt, Anna Burkholder, Maddie Hochstetler, Autumn Ratigan, Kayleigh Sprouse and Mrs. Morrison!

High School Advanced Art Stained Glass

In my view as a lifelong educator, we cannot overemphasize the importance of the fine arts as a vital part of our overall educational program.  I am so thankful that God has raised up such gifted staff to work with our students. Thank you, Kim Mancini, Lisa Morrison, Donna Kocka, Leslie Banta, and volunteers!

Rather than distracting with more words, enjoy some of the artwork below.  My regret is that I can only share a limited sampling of student talent in this limited space!
