Why Go To Church?

February 16, 2023
By Donald M. Larson, PhD., Head of School

To be a part of the GCS family, our faculty/staff/families are required to be an active part of a local church. These are questions or comments that we often hear in response to this requirement:

  • Why does GCS have this requirement?
  • Is it Biblical?
  • Can’t I worship God on the golf course or in a field?
  • My faith is just between me and God!
  • I don’t go to church because it is full of hypocrites!
  • Where does the Bible state that I should go to church?
  • I just watch church on TV!

Over the next five weeks, we are going to look at why being involved with a local church is important to GCS and, more importantly, to God. I have asked several scholars and pastors to assist in this endeavor. I hope you will take the time to read their responses to this challenge and come to a deeper understanding of what God desires and requires of us.

God Bless.

Psalm 106:1 - “Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!”
