Our Youth Sports Program is a great opportunity for students in kindergarten through fifth grade to experience the thrill of participating in a team environment, while at the same time learning the basics of good sportsmanship and the sport itself.
GCS offers soccer in the fall and basketball during the spring season.
The Youth Soccer program is very popular among our students. The season begins in the early fall and runs approximately eight weeks. Players build upon soccer skills learned in their physical education classes and games are played once per week.
Intramural Soccer. Students in kindergarten through second grade will play an intramural-based schedule on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30 pm at the VSDB soccer fields. Parents are asked to pick up their child(ren) from school at the regular dismissal time and take them to the VSDB soccer fields. Please note: cleats are not required; shin guards are not required, but recommended.
Junior Soccer. Students in third through fifth grade will play in a league of other elementary schools throughout the fall. The team participates in an elementary school league with other schools in the area, including Eastern Mennonite Elementary, North River Elementary and Cornerstone Christian Elementary. The Youth Basketball program will be played in the winter season. The teams will focus on fundamental skills development and learn the game of basketball.
